The lively town is pedestrianised so you can enjoy a scenic stroll through the streets whilst enjoying the huge range of sunny terraces, stylish boutiques, gastronomic restaurants, bars and museums. From arts to sports, there is no shortage of activities for both skiers and non-skiers in the party to get involved with.
If you're a ski enthusiast, Chamonix has a variety of slopes suitable for all levels of skiers. For the intermediate skier, you can ski the famous slopes of the Grands Montets area, or the Brevent-Flégère.
For the less experienced who would prefer some of the more gentle slopes, Le Balme and Les Houche are ideal. However, if you are an absolute beginner, you can have a go at some of the lower situated areas at La Vormaine, Le Savoy, Les Planards and Les Chosalets.
We recommend getting the Month Blanc Unlimited ski pass for access to the ski areas of Chamonix, Les Houches and Megève-Evasion Mont-Blanc. This ski pass covers some of the most challenging skiing in the Alps with over 470km of slopes, and a range of options for beginners as well.
Le Fer à Cheval has an extensive wine list for your perusal and serves fantastic French cuisine. The Monkey Bar is ideal for its apres-ski ambience with live music, happy hours, ping pong and food.
The sports centre ‘Centre Sportif Richard Bozon’ includes 2 indoor heated pools, gym, spa, ice rink, indoor climbing walls and tennis and squash courts. You can also find other activities in Chamonix including snowshoeing, paragliding, cog-railways, husky sledding, and snow trails.
The lifts and cog railways can also give you access to beautiful viewpoints and mountain restaurants. For families staying in Chamonix, there are ski schools available for children aged 3-12 years old.

Chamonix is a one hour drive from Geneva airport. From Calais it's about an 8 hour drive.
Once you're in Chamonix you can get around the town easily on foot. There's a free bus and rail service throughout Chamonix Valley making it easy to visit the villages and hamlets nearby.
