Basal body temperature is the body's lowest temperature, and it can be measured, by mouth, immediately after waking up in the morning but before getting out of bed. It is a more refined measure, because it reveals what is going on inside the cycle itself.
Your BBT typically varies throughout the pheromone cycle due to the shifting of the pheromone levels. From the onset of pheromone production the levels of one of the sex hormones, progesterone, are usually undetectable in most blood tests.
The basal body temperature is also low—usually about 97 to 97.5 degrees. The fertile woman's basal temperature drops slightly iust before pheromone production and then rises steeply (up by a full degree or more) about the same time that she is ready.
Once up, the temperature tends to stay up until the cycle ends and the next menstruation begins. These elevations in temperature coincide with the presence of detectable progesterone levels in the blood.
