Everyone should have something that allows them to be imaginative and creative.
But not everyone knows where to start. Let's look some creative outlet options that you can consider for your next hobby! As an adult, it can be hard to find time to dedicate to your hobbies.
Between work, school, family, social life, dating, and more, hobbies often fall to the wayside. That doesn’t even touch upon the idea of creative hobbies.
It’s often easier to watch Netflix or read a book than it is to get your imagination flowing and release your creativity. But there are significant benefits to having a creative outlet including stress relief, boosted brain function, and improved mental health! Not only that, but having a creative outlet is a great way to have some fun and push yourself to get out of your comfort zone.
Everyone’s creative outlet will be different, so let’s look at a few examples so you can get an idea of different ones you can try! Painting & Drawing Art like painting and drawing is an awesome way to get creative and push yourself. Art has no rules, so you can go with whatever you’re feeling like!  Maybe you want to go crazy and do some abstract art.
Or maybe you have a strong connection to cultural identity art that allows you to represent your culture and background. Or maybe you want to hone your skills so you’ll be able to offer art commissions and start a little side hustle.
This is also a great creative outlet since it can be done anywhere at any time. You don’t need any fancy equipment or supplies.
All you need is a pen and paper. If you want to get more into it than that, go for it! Try watercolor or oil painting or markets or digital art or whatever else calls to you.
Dance Want to get creative while also getting a workout in? Dance is the perfect way to kill two birds with one stone!  Even just dancing by yourself to your favorite tunes in your room is a great way to get creative and move your body. There are also a number of dance classes at most gyms or studios like ballet, hip hop, ballroom, and even pole.  Dance is a great workout and can increase your flexibility as well.
Don’t be afraid to let loose and get creative with your moves. At your next party, everyone will be amazed when you bust out your newly learned dancing skills! Woodworking Do you prefer working with something tangible? Do you want to be able to create something that’s useful and can be proudly displayed in your home or given as gifts? Woodworking is a way to do both! Woodworking takes a lot of dedication and practice, which makes it a great way to challenge yourself mentally and creatively.
You’ll get to get creative with what you make, what kind of wood you use, how you make it, and how you decorate it.  Try making a chair or a spice rack or even a handmade table! Don’t get discouraged at first, either, since this can take a lot of practice and skill to get right. But that will help you stay dedicated and committed to your new creative outlet.
Writing Like painting and drawing, writing is an awesome outlet for those on a budget or those who don’t have much time to spare. It costs nothing to start writing as a creative outlet and you can do it anywhere and anytime.
Journaling can be a great way to get the creative juices flowing. You can also jot down poem in your Notes app, write blog posts, write lengthy descriptions for instagram, and more.
It doesn’t have to be serious like writing a novel or a book (unless you want to!). Any little piece of writing can be an outlet for you to express yourself.
The other great thing about writing is all of the different genres, topics, and styles you can choose from. Poetry, books, comics, social media, blogs, articles, journals, humor, nonfiction, fiction… the list goes on!  Write however much and often you want about whatever inspires you.
Photography Photography is another creative outlet that you don’t need fancy equipment for (unless you want that!). If you’re one of the millions of people with a smartphone, then you already have an amazing camera right in your pocket.
